Scott D. Neunuebel, a longtime Santa Rosa resident and financial analyst, died Aug. 21 at a long-term care facility after a long battle with cancer. He was 55.
A native of Chicago, he lived in Santa Rosa for 16 years and worked at Washington Mutual Bank as a financial analyst.
He was a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., and worked in the mines before coming to California.
"He worked in mines, mining for gold and stuff," said his daughter, Rebecca Neunuebel of San Francisco. "We have pictures of him with a helmet and he is all dirty from being in the mines. That was kind of a cool thing he did."
He was also an active member of the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous.
"He got sober in Stockton and it changed his life," his daughter said. "It was his church, his family; he was very involved in helping people get sober. It was very much a big part of his life."
Besides his daughter, he is survived by his fiancée, Susan Main of Santa Rosa; sons Adam Neunuebel of New York and Colin Neunuebel of Atascadero; another daughter, Danielle Jennings of Santa Rosa; his father, Robert F. Neunuebel of Camarillo; brother and sisters David Neunuebel and Nancy Neunuebel, both of Santa Barbara, and Barbara Cope of South Carolina, and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Center for Spiritual Living, 2075 Occidental Road, Santa Rosa.
Donations to hospice or the American Cancer Society, 1451 Guerneville Road, Suite 220, Santa Rosa 95403, are requested.

Scott came to San Francisco with about a days notice from me his daughter, Rebecca Neunuebel, that I was getting married at City Hall... He told me, "I wouldn't miss it for all the tea in China".. He stood by us proudly, took us out to lunch, and gave us our first wedding gift.. He helped make that day very special.

Scott stopped his truck, rolled down the window and sang "Teach me about a Love" to his future sweetie - Susan Main (she was done - he swept her off her feet)
